the other 9/11

counterpunch takes the day to remember "the other 9/11"—the 1973 c.i.a.-backed coup which oustered chile's democractically elected president salvador allende and replaced him with the vicious dictator augusto pinochet, who oversaw the brutal torture and death of at least 77 of his political opponents in the course of his rule.

bush said on 9/11/01, "today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts."

i wonder if that's what allende said when dubya's daddy helped overthrow his government.
