oh, the irony!
earlier this week, the international solidarity movement sent out an email announcement organizing for "freedom summer palestine," a festival of resistance to take place in the israeli occupied territories this summer from july through august. ism hopes to attract activists from north america and europe to travel to israel and join the palestinians in defense of their people.
yeah, ok, y'all know i've got mixed feelings on this shit...but i won't go there. i just wanted to point something else out... at the end of the email, the ism included the following quote by robert f. kennedy:
It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.nice quote, right? yeah, well, here's the kicker: robert f. kennedy was assassinated by a palestinian terrorist. i wonder how he'd feel about this...maybe he'd have rephrased to be a little more specific, like he who "strikes out NONVIOLENTLY against injustice," or something. geez.
