Don't be a Nurse!
Here at lovely Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont, we are now unable to surf Jakeneck because it is not business-related. However, us nurses, all three of us who are computer-saavy, are able to kvetch via Blogger (which isn't blocked) on our run-for-cover dinner breaks. Fuck this job. I am a nurse. I went to school for four years, am $22,000 in debt, and care, and this is how I end up: hating it. U.S. "healthcare" is a joke. Hospitals kill people. Nurses in theory are wonderful, helpful humans who prevent hospitals from killing people, but hospitals kill nurses, too. My personal advice to any of you who will be going - or who have a friend/relative who will be going - to the hospital is to either A) hire a private nurse or B) have a relative/close friend stay with you or stay with your friend/relative 24/7.
I am tired of pumping poison into people and giving people shit answers to their questions. I am tired of taking 15 minutes to answer a call light (I never thought that would happen to me, me being the nurse people complain about!). I am tired of making less money than I did as a waitress. I'm tired of being treated like a waitress.
I am putting in my notice on monday and my last day will be August 1st. FAHC can kiss my ass. (By the way, the FAHC nursing union signed their first contract today, whoop dee doo.)
If anyone knows of some cool rich guy hiring a personal nurse or of some groovy, zen, alternative health retreat high up in the mountains or on a beach, let me know. . .
