field day fucked

so the fucking nypd demanded that the promoters of field day pay for 200 cops to be on hand at the event, slated for this weekend, and since they couldn't afford it, they were denied a permit last minute. (besides, who the fuck wants to go to a party that's flanked with police?) now the event's been moved to giants stadium for one day only and more than half the acts are no longer performing, including many artists who i was bent on seeing, such as the roots, sigur rós, and thievery corporation, among others.

hrm... i'm not willing to pay the police to arrest my clients, therefore, i can't have a party. gotta love the logic.

i wonder if this has anything to do with enforcement of the rave act. and shit, if you think the rave act's bad, check out hr 834, which says that promoters and venue owners can get nine years for hosting an event where they "reasonably ought to know that a controlled substance will be used or distributed." as if that's not every single concert in america!

oh, and btw—i'm going saturday and have access to an extra ticket for $90. who wants to come?
